We are an experienced and growing team of doulas, therapists, antenatal teachers, language experts, and breastfeeding supporters. Together, we are dedicated to serving people during the childbearing year when in financial hardship and vulnerability.
Kate Woods
Founder, Educator, Coordinator.
Kate has been working with women, babies, families and healthcare professionals for over 23 years. The last 10 years have been devoted to developing training and guidance programmes for new doulas, offering mentorship and trauma informed training
Kate views informed choice and grounded support for pregnant, birthing and newly mothering women, offered by trauma informed and aware teams during this pivotal time, as being key contributing factors for improving birth—ultimately contributing to positive societal change. Kate also is CEO for a Trauma Informed Education company, which offers training packages to NHS teams and private organisations. Nicky Harrison
Lead for Human Rights Advocacy and Translation Skills
Nicky brings to DWB 18 years of human rights protection and advocacy work, including 11 years with the UN, where she worked with marginalised communities in the humanitarian field. She has a specific focus on resilience-building with individuals and groups in vulnerable times.
Nicky is currently training in psycho-therapeutic approaches to trauma, with the aim of providing mental health support, including to refugee populations.
